Interactive Case Study Builder

Quick Start

From zero to a published case — the essentials in about five minutes.

Audience · Instructors Product · casebuilder.studio Time · ~5 minutes

AI Made Simple. Knowledge Made Yours.

This is the shortest path from signing in to handing students a link. Want the full detail on any step? See the User Guide.

  • 1 · Sign in
  • 2 · Create a case
  • 3 · Save
  • 4 · Share the link
⚠ One-time, per organization

AI features use your org's own provider key (bring-your-own-key). An admin sets it once under Admin → Provider settings. If AI personas don't respond, contact your Admin.

Step 1 · Sign in

Go to casebuilder.studio, sign in, and open the Dashboard. You're working inside your organization's workspace — no install, nothing to download.

Step 2 · Create a case

Two ways to build. Pick one:

Fastest

Design a Case with AI

Click Design a Case with AI in the sidebar and answer a short guided setup (intent → angle & decision → personas → deliverable → generate). The wizard drafts the whole case for you to edit.

Full control

Build manually

Click New Simulation and fill the numbered steps yourself. Takes about four minutes — see below.

Figure 3 The Design-a-Case wizard drafts a whole case from a short guided setup — this is Step 1, Intent.

Building manually — the numbered steps

  1. Company (~2 min) — enter Company Name and Industry (required); add revenue, size, and a short description for context.
  2. Personas (~1 min) — click Auto-Generate 4 Personas and review the CEO, CFO, CMO, and CSO. Edit any that need sharpening.
  3. Assignment (~1 min) — add a Title, Course, Scenario, and Deliverable, then set the export guardrails:
    • Minimum exchanges per persona — default 4 (AI replies a student needs from an executive before it counts).
    • Minimum personas consulted — default 2 (how many executives must hit that minimum to unlock export).

Step 3 · Save

Click Save in the top bar. Your case is stored in the cloud, scoped to your organization — not to one browser.

Step 4 · Share the link

  1. Click Share — a permanent /s/[shareId] URL appears.
  2. Copy it into your syllabus or LMS. Students just click and enter their name — no login, no code to paste.
Step 4 Publish with the student link
Figure 4 Open 4 Publish and click Publish share link — copy the /s/… link straight into your syllabus.
One link per case

Clicking Share again returns the same URL, so the link you hand out stays valid. To cut access, revoke it (you can re-share later for a fresh URL).

Quick fixes

ProblemFix
Executives don't respondYour org's AI provider key is unset or invalid — an admin sets it under Admin → Provider settings.
Can't saveConfirm you're signed in and your organization is active; clear an old case if you've hit your active-case cap.
Students can't open the linkMake sure it isn't revoked; if re-shared, distribute the new URL.
Export button won't unlockStudents haven't met the thresholds yet — and check that “minimum personas” doesn't exceed your cast size.
Next steps

Build your first case with the steps above, then read the User Guide for design best practices and the Technical Guide if you administer the platform. Start simple, run it with a cohort, and iterate on what you learn.
